Some More Research

I was pretty upset that i already have an answer to my previous question, so i decided to look up some other factors that affect the growth of plants, apart from the type of water/liquid used. Here is a really good website i found:

http://www.soil.ncsu.edu/lockers/Broome_S/ssc051/Lec3.htm

I was thinking, maybe i should explore the whole temperature factor? The website goes into depth about the proper temperatures and such needed for a plant to grow properly.

Once again though, ill see what happens when i have my chat with ms. Zhang. Hopefully she can give me a few ideas :)

p.s. its my birthday today ;) srp blog, feel special. i haven't even bothered to do my maths homework tonight. hahahaha

wow, this is depressing.

Wow, my orginality isn't very good :S

Here is a question i found posted on the internet from a girl named Nicole:

I am doing science fair research. My question is: Do different types of water affect the growth of plants? I need background information and an experiment to perform.

hahaha, she has the exact same idea as me. i probably should alter my experiment a little. Anyway, for those who are curious, here is the answer:

Different types of water can affect the growth of plants. For example, water that has a relatively high salinity (salt water) can cause toxicity, stunt growth, and kill some plants. However, different types of plants have different tolerances of different levels of sodium. This is also true of many other elements that can be present in water. If some elements are present in the water in high concentrations, it can cause problems with plants. However, most well and tap water works just fine for growing plants. You can learn more about water and plants on the following Web pages:

So there we go. My experiment has been done for me, summed up in seven lines :| im going to change it. Time to go talk to Ms. Zhang!!!

Looking Around

So ive been looking around for some ideas i could add to my experiment, and ive found a pretty simple yet effective one on this website:

http://www.infoplease.com/cig/science-fair-projects/liquids-do-seeds-grow-best.html

Its a really good idea, and limits the amount of variables ill be using. Instead of watering the seeds with different liquids, you actually grow the seed in the liquid. I think it could be interesting, seeing as we usually grow seeds in soil. Plus, the hypothesis would be really hard to come up with!

Anyway, thats just an idea. I still like my original idea, but as i said before, it wont get me conclusive results. Ill see what happens after i talk to Ms. Zhang.

Marking Sheet

The other day we got our marking sheets from Ms. Zhang. I got a 10/15, which was an ok mark when i compared it to some others.
Ms. Zhang has approved everything except for "conclusive results".
Im not quite sure what that means, but ill have to wait until after the holidays to ask her :( But yeah, i guess ill just carry on with research during the holidays.

This srp is starting to worry me. Just saying :)
